I have read in the internet that Infra-Red beams such as those in the table and room fan controllers, television channel controllers and DVD players and other household appliances can be utilised as a carrier beam for communications. I have shone the Infra-Red beam around the house without turning on any electrical appliances and sometimes I wonder if I am hearing sounds from other Infra-Red devices. Is that a possible thought that people can be transferring their voices on the Infra-Red beam without their knowledge? Another idea, just as lasers are possibly utilised in satellite communications as a carrier, or a point to point communiations carrier. Written by Junt Hoong Chan MIET MIEEE CEng.
